Thought Volta was supposed to be a one cable to rule them all kinda thing? i litteraly just got my “improved original” cables that you had on your XL campaign and now your already saying they are outdated? I kinda understood the XL not being compatable with original becuase it needs to transfer more at once but if your gonna make a 2.0 they should be compatable with at least XL to be the universal cable they kinda are geting advertized as, and if you had plans for these at the you should have skipped the improved onse in the XL campiagn(or gave a warning its only viable for old customers and not new ones).

Also what does that mean for the lifetime warrenty? Cuase you cant ship someone a 2.0 cable if their original cable broke unless you send replacement tips and then what about all the other original cables they may have? so unless you intend on continuing producing both its hard to support the warranty meaning its not lifetime.

I’m new and have just bought a series of Volta XL cables, thinking it would be the solution to charge my MacBook and my iPhone with the same cable. After all, with USB-C, the same charger can charge both, just need different tips. There was even talk of a lightning tip for XL as a bonus offering.

Now I find out that that’s not happening, I need a new set of cables to be able to charge my iPhone – XL won’t do it? Half the point of switching to this ‘universal’ system was that it was going to be universal.

I’m disappointed and not spending more money here. Please come up with a solution or an upgrade path for those left behind.

I have to agree with all the other comments about compatibility. I’m another early supporter who purchased many Volta originals and XLs for all my devices. I’m not going to fall again and purchase v2. 0 to replace everything.

Unless you provide us (early backers) with an option to replace all our cables and tips to the new version, or create a set that is compatible with previous versions I will not be supporting you guys anymore. I’m not spending another couple hundred dollars on cables and tips just to see you create another “unsupported” version after few months.

Thank you Volta for the great products you’ve created, but with this announcement I have to say that I I’m done with this product!

Absolutely agree with what’s been said already. While I’ve been a strong supporter and advocate of your products from the very first project I can’t see myself being duped yet again to buy into another series of cables and tips that are incompatible from the previous generations. I don’t think I spent this much upgrading from cassettes to CDs, Beta/VHS to DVD, DVD to BR!

I have to agree with the sentiment here. Instead of hearing about new products I’d like to know what is going to happen to your founding supporters? I have original and XL and now there’s a new standard that isn’t compatible?!?! This feels like a take the money and run without some kind of transparency for early adopters. I’d like to see XL and 2.0 compatibility or some type of upgrade opportunity to exchange tips. Otherwise I’m disappointed to say as a strong and understanding supporter I will be directing my funding elsewhere and those I’ve gathered with me. Your communication and mission don’t align. Update us supporters at no charge and get some better communication before launching new products you’re hurting your image and brand.
